How To Make A 'Shadowed' Frame

1. Open the graphic you want to frame.
2. Click on the background colour box

and ensure that the colour isn't in the graphic. This will give nice clean lines when you select the edges.
3. Click Image/Add Borders (a box will come up)

set yours up like this one. (Make sure the symmetric box is checked)
4. With the magic wand, select the border. Two rows of marching ants should be seen. One around the edge of the graphic, and one at the edge of the image.

5. With the dropper, choose a colour from your graphic, and flood fill the border using the bucket tool.
6. Click Selections/Invert. Now only the graphic should be highlighted.

7. Click on Image/Effects/Drop Shadow (a box will come up, set yours up like this one)

8. Click on Image/Add Borders (a box will come up, set yours like this one)

9. Use the magic wand tool to select the new border.
10. Flood fill the border with the same colour as the first border.
11. Click Selections/Invert so that just one set of ants are marching

12. Click on Image/Effects/Drop Shadow (a box will come up, set yours like this one)

13. Open a new image 1024 x whatever high (high enough to take the graphic with a nice blank border round it)
14. Flood fill the background strip you've just opened with the same colour as you've used in the frame.
15. Click on your framed graphic to activate it, then click on Edit/Copy.
16. Click on the background strip to activate it, then click on Edit/Paste as new layer.
17. Position your graphic to the top and left, leaving a nice border round the outside of the frame.
18. Click on the background with the magic wand.
19. Click on Selections/Invert. Just the framed graphic will be highlighted.
20. Click on Image/Effects/Drop Shadow (a box will come up, set yours up like this one)

21. Click on the background layer, and add texture (if you want to).

That's it.
